The Balearic Islands are a top destination in the nautical industry. During the Balearic Yacht Show 2020 we were able to enjoy a series of very interesting conferences and sessions where we could learn about the destination of the Balearic Islands by local and international experts.A 360 vision of the islands, annual competitions taking place here and new marine innovations in the Balearic Islands.

Working and living in the Balearic Islands (English)

Living in the Balearic Islands is truly a luxury. But what is it really like for yachties to live here? And why is it such a popular place? In this conference, we find out how work and personal life look from professionals in the nautical industry. Hosted by Rhea Rouw, owner of Yachting International Radio, we are joined by panellists:

  • Hamish Goddard: Commercial Representative of e3 Systems in Spain.
  • Sento de Cecilio: Captain and Creative Director of YYachts and Abbacino Bags.
  • Emma Thomson: Independent design professional.

Palma and the sea (English)

Discover this fascinating tour of Palma city, led by Rocío Recio, a local tourist guide and member of the Official Association of Tourist Guides of the Balearic Islands. Joining Rocío is Captain Glen McDonnell, an Australian skipper with a very special bond with Mallorca. Together we explore the most fascinating corners of the Mallorcan capital: the sun, the beach and the surroundings, as well as its impressive cultural and historical heritage.

Slow luxury: The new movement in the Balearic Islands (English)

In this session, Helen Cummis, publisher, successful businesswoman and 20-year resident of Palma de Mallorca, takes the helm to present a series of interviews with yachting professionals. Learn about the essence of the Balearic Islands and the "Slow Luxury" movement, discussed from the point of view of different personalities and nationalities. They all have one thing in common: living a luxurious and sustainable way of life in the Balearic Islands.

The Yachting Vinyards Guide (English)

Wine has always played a fundamental role in the history of the Balearic Islands. Thanks to this fascinating journey through the Mallorcan vineyards led by Rhea Rouw, founder of Yachting International Radio, wine lovers will be able to discover the wonderful history of Mallorcan wine. We visit (virtually) some of the oldest wineries located in Consell and Binissalem. Sylvia, from Bodegas Ribas, and Oscar, from Vinos Ferrer, will be there to tell us the history of these wonderful wines of the area.

Literary presentation of a great nautical expedition (Spanish)

Miquel A. Llauger, Miquel Seguí and Rosa Planas present: " Diary of an expedition around Mallorca", a book about a great nautical expedition.
These three panellists conduct a dialogue on this book and the perspectives that have arisen from it regarding tourism in the Balearics.

Future developments of Superyacht Cup Palma (English)

For this conference we are joined with Kate Branagh, director of Superyacht Cup Palma since 2012, and Alex Pamment, captain and member of Ganesha Yachting Ltd. Find out how preparations started for the 25th Anniversary which will be celebrated in 2021.

World Record: fastest lap around Mallorca (English)

In this session with world record holder and co-founder/CEO of Trifork, Jørn Larsen, we find out what it takes to sail the fastest lap around the island of Mallorca. We learn how to prepare for this kind of adventure and how to deal with adverse, unpredictable situations such as the weather, which plays an important role in the success or failure of the race.

Copa del Rey and Princesa Sofía: international benchmarks (Spanish)

In this conference, a panel of experts get together to discuss the importance of sailing in the Balearic Islands. With the Copa del Rey and the Princesa Sofía regatta as protagonists and references on a global scale. The speakers of this panel include:
